Risk Management works closely with many internal departments to identify exposures to the healthy operations of the company then determine how to insure against those exposures either through the placement of insurance policies or internal retention of the losses. Those internal departments would include but is not limited to Accounting, HR, Legal, Facilities, etc. Risk Management is focused on the prevention of losses and the effective cost management of claims once a loss does occur. The intern will be immersed in the overall daily process of Risk Management by shadowing the SVP and Director of Risk Management.
Role and Responsibilities
- Claims Support
- Set-up claims within the carrier RIMS system,
- Work with assigned adjusters and field operations to gather information necessary to complete investigations
- Insurance Renewal
- Will participate in the annual insurance renewal including meetings with the broker, underwriters, etc.
- Set up one on one time with the broker to learn of their role as client broker, advocate, and resource to Caliber Holdings LLC
- Attend the quarterly claims review with the TPA/Carrier
- Work with the broker to create a repository of all insurance policies
- Assist in invoice processing and tracking
- Assist in documenting and creating flowcharts of risk management processes and procedures
- Meet with other internal departments vital to effective collaboration with Risk Management
- Legal, Accounting, Facilities, Safety, Financial Planning, HR including WC
- Support special projects and additional assignments, as needed
Qualifications and Requirements
- Working towards completion of a bachelor's degree in Risk Management, Actuarial Sciences, Insurance, or another related field and have achieved junior status or higher.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Intermediate knowledge of Excel and databases
